Imagine gliding silently above the golden hills of Agadir, the Atlantic Ocean shimmering in the distance, and the ancient Kasbah Oufella standing proudly on the horizon.
Welcome to the Agadir Cable Car, the first of its kind in Morocco — a breathtaking attraction that has quickly become one of the city’s most talked-about experiences.
Opened to the public in 2022, this modern cable car offers more than just a convenient ride — it’s a journey through time and beauty. From its panoramic views to its smooth ride connecting Agadir’s foothills to the historic Kasbah, the experience promises unforgettable moments for visitors of all ages.
The Agadir Cable Car (or Téléphérique d’Agadir) was built as part of the city’s broader plan to enhance sustainable tourism and revive its cultural heritage.
The project connects two stations — the lower station at “Talborjt”, located near the city center, and the upper station at the Kasbah Oufella, one of Agadir’s most iconic historical sites.
With a total length of 1,700 meters and a vertical rise of 175 meters, the cable car allows passengers to enjoy stunning views of Agadir Bay, the Marina, and the Atlas foothills — all while traveling in comfort and safety.
Agadir is proud to host the very first urban cable car in Morocco, symbolizing innovation and progress in the nation’s tourism infrastructure. Built with cutting-edge Swiss technology, the system offers high safety standards and smooth operation even during windy coastal conditions.
Few attractions combine modern engineering with historic charm as seamlessly as this one. The cable car connects modern Agadir to the ancient Kasbah Oufella, which dates back to the 16th century and offers the best vantage point in the region.
Whether you visit in the bright summer months or during Agadir’s mild winter, the cable car operates year-round. Each season brings a different visual experience — from the golden hues of summer dunes to the lush green tones following rare winter rains.
Your journey begins at the base station, located near the “Tildi” area, just a short drive from the city center and Agadir Marina.
The departure terminal is clean, modern, and features a ticketing office, waiting area, and small café where you can grab a drink before your ride.
Once aboard, the gondola lifts gently off the ground, revealing a gradually expanding view of Agadir’s coastline.
The ride takes about 6–7 minutes each way, covering 1.7 kilometers of scenic landscape. On clear days, you can see as far as Taghazout to the north and the Souss Valley to the east.
At the summit, the Kasbah Oufella station welcomes visitors with a panoramic terrace and easy access to the historical site. The restored Kasbah ruins, once devastated by the 1960 earthquake, now offer a window into Agadir’s past — complete with viewing platforms and walking trails.
Standing 236 meters above sea level, the Kasbah Oufella dates back to 1540, built by the Saadian Sultan Mohammed Ech-Cheikh. Although only parts of its walls remain, the site is a symbol of resilience and rebirth for Agadir.
From the top, you’ll enjoy a 360-degree view of the entire city — from the harbor to the Marina, the long crescent beach, and the modern urban districts stretching inland.
This is one of the best photography spots in Morocco. At sunrise or sunset, the light over the bay creates a golden shimmer perfect for travel photos or drone shots. The new “I ❤️ Agadir” sign near the viewpoint is also a popular stop for selfies.
The upper station features a stylish terrace café offering Moroccan tea, fresh juices, and light snacks. Sit back, relax, and take in the view while enjoying the calm sea breeze — it’s one of Agadir’s most peaceful spots.

If you’re looking for romance or a touch of drama, sunset is unbeatable. The entire city glows orange and gold, while the ocean mirrors the colors of the sky. It’s one of Agadir’s most spectacular natural shows.
During the summer months, temperatures can rise quickly between noon and 3 PM. Plan your ride in the early morning or late afternoon for maximum comfort.
The Agadir Cable Car adheres to international safety standards, using Swiss-engineered systems by Doppelmayr. Each gondola can accommodate up to 8 passengers, equipped with ventilation and wide windows for visibility.
Wheelchair accessible: yes
Air-conditioned cabins: not necessary due to natural airflow
Emergency systems: automatic backup power and evacuation plans in place
Families, seniors, and even small children can enjoy the ride safely and comfortably.
Ongoing restoration projects aim to rebuild the Kasbah walls and create a small open-air museum telling the story of Agadir before and after the 1960 earthquake.
Just below the hill lies the chic Marina, filled with cafés, restaurants, and boutiques. It’s the perfect place for a post-cable car lunch or evening stroll.
Agadir’s main market — only a 10-minute drive away — offers a colorful dive into local culture. From spices to ceramics and handmade leather goods, it’s an authentic Moroccan experience.
Stretching for nearly 10 kilometers, the promenade is ideal for a relaxing walk after your visit. Sunset views from the beach align beautifully with the cable car’s path up to the Kasbah.
Bring a light jacket: Evenings at the top can be breezy.
Plan your timing: Arrive 30 minutes before sunset for perfect lighting.
Avoid crowds: Weekdays are quieter than weekends.
Stay hydrated: Especially if exploring the Kasbah on foot.
Combine it with dinner: Try one of the seafood restaurants along Agadir Marina afterward.
The Agadir Cable Car is not just a tourist attraction — it’s also a model of eco-friendly mobility. By reducing road traffic to the Kasbah, it helps limit CO₂ emissions and preserve the hillside environment.
Future phases of the project plan to extend the line further north toward Taghazout, connecting Agadir’s main tourist areas through a seamless aerial network. The development also supports local employment and enhances Agadir’s reputation as a modern, sustainable tourism hub in Morocco.
Few experiences capture the essence of Agadir as perfectly as this one:
A touch of modern innovation
A connection to ancient heritage
And the breathtaking natural beauty of Morocco’s Atlantic coast
Whether you’re a solo traveler, a couple, or a family, the Agadir Cable Car offers a fresh perspective on the city — literally and emotionally. It’s not just a ride; it’s a story suspended between the sky and the sea.
The Agadir Cable Car transforms an ordinary sightseeing trip into a memorable adventure. It’s where history, nature, and innovation meet — offering panoramic views that capture the heart of every traveler.
From the quiet hum of the gondola to the sweeping views of the Kasbah and the coastline, it’s an experience that defines what modern Moroccan tourism is all about: beauty, authenticity, and progress.
